As of September 1, 2026, the maximum duration of unemployment benefits for job seekers who have entered a mutually agreed termination (“rupture conventionnelle individuelle”) is reduced compared to that provided for under general law.
This duration is set at 15 months for beneficiaries under the age of 55 as of the end date of their employment contract and at 20.5 months for others. Longer benefit periods are provided for in the overseas departments.
These new provisions apply to unemployed workers whose employment contracts ended on or after September 1, 2026.
These new provisions apply only to employees whose contracts are terminated through a mutually agreed termination; they do not affect employees who left the company as part of a collective mutual termination agreement (“rupture conventionnelle collective”).
